What’s in Your Head?

I just returned yesterday from a 3-day Launch Tree conference in Las Vegas.

It was a great opportunity to connect with old friends and associates and meet several new ones. With speakers ranging from Joe Sugarman of BluBlocker direct sales fame, to the “dude” Frank Kern of Mass Control, to Perry Belcher who in the last 10 months started from scratch - zero subscribers or followers, and using social media sites such as twitter, facebook, youtube, and wordpress he now has been averaging over 100k month - it was days of valuable information and note taking.
As I reviewed my notes last night, I began to see a pattern with nearly all of the speakers. Those that are successful all exhibit the following four attributes:
1-Successful people think big and then follow up with action
2-Successful people read and reiterate what their goals and aspirations are - Every single day
3-Successful people provide value and communicate with their audience
4-Successful people spend their time on the activity that provides them with the highest return
Let’s look at each of these attributes and how you can apply it to your life and your business. I can guarantee you one thing - if you change your thinking and your actions to coincide with these attributes - you will see big changes in your life an business. If on the other hand you say “Yeah right Ray”, and you continue living your life and business as you have been doing - you will not grow and your business will not expand. And I can guarantee one year from now you will be in exactly the same boat you are in today!
1-Successful People think big and then follow up with action
Lots of people dream big and have great ideas - however only about 5% of those people ever follow through with action. Let’s say for example you have a website or an affiliate product that you believe is great. If you were to say to yourself that you were going to be the number one affiliate, or that you were going to sell 100 units of product this week - then if there is going to be even a remote possibility of that to come true - you need to follow up with action. Specific things that you will do every day that will produce measurable results. If you have 10 visitors a day - then promote your website till you have 100 visitors a day - or 1000 visitors a day - and everyday focus your energies on what ever activity that will push you to achieving your “Big Idea”.
2-They read and reiterate what their goals and aspirations are - Every single day!
To use a old axiom, “Whatever your mind can conceive and believe - you can achieve.” Throughout my entire life, the times where I had my greatest successes, were times where I had written out on a piece of paper, clear and measurable goals, and where every morning I started out by reading those goals out loud.
What happens is you train your subconscious mind to concentrate on the activities and tasks that direct you toward achieving your goals. If you can get your subconscious mind - that guy/gal in your brain that is ALWAYS chattering at nearly 1500 words a minute to keep repeating your goals and what you want to achieve. (unfortunately for most it regurgitates the negative things of life such as bad news, violence, the economy, or worry)
The sooner you start to focus your subconscious minds on what you want to accomplish - the sooner you will do the things necessary to achieve those goals. The key is to write the measurable goals out and to read out loud.
Marshall Sylver - the millionaire maker, suggested this affirmation statement “I am a multi-millionaire whose money as yet to be deposited in my bank account”
3-Successful People provide Value and communicate with their audience
As soon as you start providing real value to others - and effectively communicating with them - everything will change for you and your business. To develop a following - provide value and communicate with your audience. Regardless of the niche you are in - the more people you provide value to - the more successful you will be. With the social sites available to all of - use those to your advantage - use these social sites as tools for you to reach a wider audience. Gain trust and credibility by providing information that your audience can use to better their lives. When you do that, they will begin to trust you - when people trust you - they will buy from you.
4-Successful people spend their time on the activity that provides them with the highest return
Brad Fallon, a very successful online businessman who now coaches Fortune 500 Companies had us conduct a simple test that shows you exactly what you need to be focusing your energies and activities on. First off we need be aware that the #1 thing that is preventing your big success is that in all likelihood, you are working on too many projects - I will be the first to admit that this is one of my weaknesses also.
Just list your current projects out in a column: Then right next to that column put what that project will profit you for the entire year were it to be completed. Next, in the next column enter the number of hours it would take you to complete that project - and finally divide your profit by the number of hours it will take.
This will result in a figure that expresses what you would be paid in dollars per hour. When you look at that column - you will see exactly what you should be concentrating your efforts on. Pause all of your other projects - and then go complete that project first - only work on that one project that leverages your time the greatest. Then when and only when that is complete - work on another project.
| Project | Annual Profit | Total Hours | Profit/Hours |
| Project A | $20k | 200 hrs | $100/hr |
| Project B | $8k | 100 hrs | $80/hr |
| Project C | $12k | 600 hrs | $20/hr |
| Project D | $3k | 100 hrs | $30/hr |
So as an example of some of the projects I am involved in - from just building this simple chart - it becomes obvious that I should concentrate my activities on Project A till it is complete.
It just does not make sense for me to be messing with project C at this time - I will leverage my time five fold by concentrating on Project A instead…..And Project A gets to market quicker where it starts generating income. But if I try to do all 4 projects - it would most likely delay Project A by months since I would be “sharing” my time with all 4 project.
Take 10 minutes and do this simple test to the projects you are involved in. I bet you will find this to be an enlightening way of looking at your own projects.
