Above is a gold mine that is tucked away in the forest near my home.  Since rock collecting has always been a hobby of mine and my wife’s, searching out and “discovering” these mines has always been one of our favorite past times.  Every year when we made our yearly trip to Montana, my family would join in my search of these old gold mines.  I can remember countless times walking paths where I would tell my family, “it is just around the next bend”, and we would trudge on.  Funny thing with old mines, is that they maybe on a hand drawn map that I got from a university publication that was 80 years - locating these mines after all of these years still takes a sharp eye.
