The Fire in You

Well fire season has
struck here in western Montana with the "wonderful" side effect of
smokey air.  The fire above is just 8 miles from our home - but fortunately
it is on the other side of the mountains - for now.  Most likely started by
someone throwing a cigarette out of their window along the interstate 90. 
That little careless act has now burned over 6250 acres.  And that is just
one of the 18 major fires in the state.

The Fire in You
What is your passion? What creates the fire in your belly to accomplish what you
do?  One one major difference between very successful people and those that
are not - is the desire to succeed coupled with the drive to move forward
regardless of the obstacles thrown in the way.  We all have downturns and
disappointments in our lives, but in most cases you can take these downturns and
use them as learning experiences and sometimes they even point out
opportunities. While having the forest burn up in many ways is only bad - there
are businesses such as helicopters, fire fighting airplanes, fire crews that
every year travel to where the fires are - help fight them - and are rewarded
with government contracts.

Opportunity abounds
around you whether online or offline.  Examine your strengths and apply
them directly to these opportunities.  I was involved in a conference this
week where we were discussing adwords and developing adwords campaigns.  It
was remarked how we live in a very unique time in history where quite literally
anyone can have a store/website and drive only people interested in what they
are selling,  thru the door.  In the history of mankind this has only
been possible in the last few years.  Of all of the different advertising
mediums - this is quite literally the first time it has been possible to
directly match up what you have to sell with people interested in what you have
to sell.  When you think of any other advertising medium - they all work
more on a shotgun blast effect where you spend money reaching people who have no
interest at all in your product - just so you could reach the few that do. 
This is such a powerful concept that very few have even caught on to.  Can
you see the opportunity?

Match your own
strengths and knowledge - and look inside you to discovery your own
opportunity.  Don’t make the mistake that I see so many people do and that
is to come up with some internet marketing product and try to sell that in a
field that is already over crowded.  Look at the resources that you have
around you - in your own town - in your own life - that can help others. 
Example: Since my ground is in the forest, there is one product that I have
quite literally thousands of  - and that is pine cones.  So here is a
resource that cost me literally nothing and if I wanted to I could sell pine
cones by the thousands online by using this new marketing channel called adwords. 
I could create ads that only people interested in purchasing pine cones would
click and then send them to my pine cones for sale site.  This was not even
possible just a few short years ago.  What opportunity is staring you in
the face?  What could you put your energies and "fire in your
belly" towards marketing?  My wife is gluten intolerant - I read in
the newspaper of a mother who had a child that was gluten intolerant (means you
cannot eat any wheat products) - so this mom has created after experimenting a
rice blend of flour and made a recipe book for cooking for gluten intolerant
people.  This mom is now selling hundreds of pounds of this special flour
each day.  She ran into a problem - she turned it into opportunity!
